Stress is normal physical response of body to any change that requires a response or adjustment. The adjustment or response can be physical, mental or emotional. Stress is quite a normal part of life, and we can experience it from our body, thought or environment.
Stress can be positive stress, which keeps you alert and helps in avoiding danger, and it can be negative if a person faces several challenges without any relief or relaxation in between. Negative stress makes a person over-worked and builds stress related tension or distress.
Distress may result in to physical problems like elevated blood sugar, headaches, upset stomach, chest pain, depression, hair loss, hyperthyroidism, obesity, sexual dysfunction, ulcer, cancer etc. Under the influence of stress some people even start using tobacco, alcohol or drugs as stress relieving measure, which worsens their condition.
Though we cannot completely eliminate stress from our life, but we can manage it with the help of relaxation techniques like meditation, yoga and deep breathing, which bring in a state of restfulness in the body, and reduce stress level.
